#COTDstyle Tuesday Takeover: FUCHSIA and PAISLEY

Mercedes and Andy, of Colors of the Day [or #COTDstyle], invited me to be today's Tuesday Takeover color picker! My directive: pick two colors/patterns, or textures. WooHoo!

I decree today is FUCHSIA and PAISLEY day!
[Scrambles to find fuscia in closet. WHY did I pick Fuscia??????]
The color way that I came up with reminded me of my Pantone Tropical Preppy collection.
I decided to put my muse Cameron in a new outfit and add him to the day's festivities.
(If any gent can pull off a fuchsia paisley ensemble, it's Cameron Silver!)

COTD is a fun group, both on Instagram (deploying the #COTDstyle hashtag) and in a closed group on Facebook (COTD Style). Come join in the fun! And for you Surface Designers, a great way to get quick color/ pattern inspo!

Tropical Fusion Blog Hop

I'm joining up with 42 other surface designers in a blog hop inspired by the Pantone Color of 2014, Radiant Orchid.
If you are blog hopping you must have arrived here after enjoying the colorful and bold patterns of the talented designer Carrie Tasman. If not, be sure to check them out here!

For my collection Tropical Preppy,
I was inspired by a madras that I found on the internet and adapted for a post over on my fashion blog SpyGirl called Know Your Plaid.

I added another plaid

and a conversational of tropical drinks, recolored from a design that I did for my day job.
This was originally used on mens lounge pants for the Michael Morgan line at Fred Meyer -- NOT in this colorway!

My muse is Cameron Silver, the owner of Decades in Los Angeles, who I've seen (and sketched) sporting very flamboyant ensembles. I've outfitted him in my collection:
So grab yourself a radiant pink martini and hop on over to see Dawn Clarkson's colorful interpretation of the Tropical Fusion theme on her blog Nice and Fancy.

If you've just joined our blog hop please go to Groovity Designs where you can start from the beginning. The party continues through 1/21 so you have plenty of time to peruse all the designs.
A big thanks to Mary Tanana at Groovity, who did a fantastic job getting us organized and hopping to it!
