Fluevog Fabric Prints on Spoonflower

I recently did a massive uploading of 2019 Fluevog shoe prints to Spoonflower, where you can purchase yardage, wallpaper, and assorted homegoods.
In an attempt to be organized, and make it easy for you to find your favorite Fluevog, I created a catalogue that is searchable (you do not even have to type the full name!).

Here is how it works:

Pantone Color of the Year 2022: Very Peri

 Very Peri:

It just so happens to be a Bird of Paradise color!
And, ever since I moved my computer desk to be near a window, I can see some blooming as I type!

I'm in the process of working up a Bird of Paradise repeat. I'll post it here when I finish it.

Meanwhile, I'm refreshing artwork with Very Peri in the mix:

Bee Dazzled

I encountered this fabric last week at the Textile Arts LA textile swap:

It was very familiar, because of this video:

Which was part of an online collaboration I had with Kristine last year (see it here).

But not only that...
My response to her video was this:
Release, 2020 (more info on my art website)
And to create it, I knocked off the bee print!
I was considering this concept as a possible print for girl's panties, maybe with ladybugs instead of bees, but had second thoughts -- do young girls want bugs on their underwear?

Today, it went into a Scrappy Square, flying full circle, so to speak.

I redrew the Jodie. She required it!

It's been a journey with Ms Jodie...

Second Thoughts, Stitching the World

Remember the Stitching the World project?

I thought I was all set with the base map digital art to get it printed.
I had waited for a good sale on Redbubble.
I wrestled with uploading the map (hit a file size road block).
Ordered.
It arrived in the mail.

And

I thought about this guy and his antimender proclivities:

the current Big Blanket Mend
It's taking forever. Thanks, Mr Lou.
and this from last year:

Oh no, I didn't think this through properly.

White background + hairy cat = bad embroidery project math!

Back to the (virtual) drawing board!

Dramatic!
Hoping it arrives in time to work on during the Textile Arts LA materials swap on July 10.

There's plenty of time to add your voice to the project. I have no end date yet.

Revisiting and Revising the 2019 Fluevog Series
Fluevog Aimee

Did I mention that this is my next project?

Most of the 2019 A-Z Fluevogs didn't make it onto the Print on Demand sites.
I am now rectifying that.

Aimee, the first of the series, comes in tons of colorways.
I did a poll in a Fluevog Facebook group to determine which combo to do first.

Purple/ Green was the clear winner.

I changed it up for the Aimee tee shirts:
I did the same for myself in teal, back in 2019, to go with my Teal/Aqua Aimees.
The tees are super soft, the printing on tees, however, can be dodgy.
The art that I uploaded was definitely teal. It printed light blue.

The original sketches for 2019 were one-liners, meaning I didn't lift the marker from the page as I drew.
They have a more naive quality, which is one reason I chose to do the tees with a smaller scatter design. One giant Aimee graphic looked a bit scary!

Fluevog A-Z 2021 Yardage Available

Here they are! All the 2021 repeats!

Now I'm waiting on the Spoonflower strike-offs to arrive in order to offer them for sale.

(6/21) All the prints are now available here!

I used the "Fill a Yard" function, which I think is the most economical solution for this amount of test prints. It also helped me check any scale issues, a problem in the past.

Fluevog Perfectionist in Black and WIP

All the 2021 A-Z Fluevogs have been uploaded to Redbubble, patterned items included.
Now I'm working my way getting all the repeats on Spoonflower.
Here is my "to do" grid for A-Z 2021:
if it looks like a spiral notebook, it's not yet on Spoonflower
I also have to order a strike-off swatch before yardage can be purchased

This morning, I messed around with the product mock-ups available to me on Redbubble:
black wasn't working, did not feel like recoloring all the towels, I'll try the white colorway
cute!

Seeing Double

Carolina Herrera NYC shop window, 2014
I found the first print while doing some vintage textiles research.
The discovery happened to coincide with composing a post about the NYC segment of my 2014 road trip on my Patreon site*, where I am posting my travel journal v-e-r-y slowly. Otherwise, I wouldn't have caught it!
Did they both find the same vintage print independently?
It happened with Larry and me, it IS possible. [Will post about that later].

#AtoZchallenge 2021 Conclusion

Another successful year of A-Z-ing completed. Woohoo!

24/26 completed the A-Z Scavenger Hunt

The overall theme this year on the official siteBlogging from A to Z Challenge, was GAMES. It made returning to the official site much more fun! I wish more participants made comments there, it seemed to be the same bunch day after day.
Anyhow, I was much better this year at reading posts and commenting - maybe because I'm "working" from home, my work hours were reduced to only 4 hours a day, plus the above Scavenger Hunt search!

I want to thank all the A-Z team members for all that they do!
This is my favorite blogging challenge for sure.
