Wacky Print Wednesday: Lost at Sea

The stabby compass points are a bit scary and the islands look like they're having earthquakes.
An old rayon print from Larry's stash. Perfect for that retro day dress.

Wacky Print Wednesday: Faces

A hand painted silk hankie. Probably a class project, I found it in the trash at the Otis Fashion campus, early 00s.

Take it from nature

Here's a leaf that I picked up in the parking garage at Otis last Saturday.
Mother Nature is the ultimate artist.

the cheese grater!
This, another gem from Larry's stash, is on a doll dress!
Wacky print designs lurk everywhere.

Wacky Print Wednesday: The Erie Canal

Yes.
I know you always wanted a blouse with the lyrics to "The Erie Canal Song" on it.

Need a jot to your memory?

From Larry's amazing stash.

Wacky Print Wednesday: Playmate Puzzle

I found this treasure in a Vintage shop on Haight in San Francisco.
The shirt was way too small, so I snuck in a photo in the dressing room.

Love the concept, I'd probably choose a landscape over the sun-kissed girls.

Wacky Print Wednesday: The Sun Rises Over Houndstooth

Here's a coordinate to go with last week's Tie-Dye Grass. I'd say the designer was smoking some of that wacky tobaccy.
This is glorious circa 60-70's nylon jersey that was used on a shirtwaist dress.
I used to wear it!

From Larry Quint's stash, obtained in 1997.

Wacky Print Wednesday: Tie-Dye Grass

No, not THAT kind of grass!
Can anyone think up a use for this design?

Wacky Print Wednesday: Text/Txet

Some of the text is French, some of the text is backwards, some of the text is both.

Wacky Print Wednesday: Is It Pizza?

Candy Corn???

It's wacky, that's what it is!
I discovered this at Dressew Supply, 337 W. Hastings St. Vancouver, BC
I made many unique finds there, which I'll reveal over the next few weeks.

Wacky Print Wednesday: Stagecoach Melange

I found this recently in a box of prints I had culled from my friend Larry's collection:
Stagecoaches on torn scraps of French newspaper, floating in the black abyss and decorated with pretty flowers? Okaaaaay.

Leggings on Society6

Every time Society6 adds another new substrate, I get a little nudge to work up some products.
(Though I didn't get very far with the "Chicken Marsala", did I? Pantone's Marsala wins the prize of "most uninspiring color of the year")
Anyway, now there are leggings. If you read my SpyGirl fashion blog, you know that I'm very fond of the patterned leg. I have resurrected the "Crazy Legs", hoping that the colors will be richer than they were on the tights:

Gibberish on a black ground:
And, as a wild card, Sound:

I have ordered the first two prints, to test the quality. I'll report back after I wear them.

There's a $5 discount with free shipping offer today on Society6 until midnight if you click on the following special link: http://society6.com/patternrecognitionbyannembray?promo=CJ6BB434YGJ2

FULL DISCLOSURE: I get paid about $5 per pair of tights sold. Thanks for your support!

Greetings from Planet Botz

[I originally wrote this over two years ago]
Here is my submission to ArtHouse's Infinite Scroll... Space (link probably no good, so no link).
It features my robot guys hanging out on a small gnarly rainbow planet (inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupery).

I created the robot art at work for boys knit boxers back in 2005. I was alarmed to discover that the digital files are nowhere to be found. I had to scan a printout to get the above done. Grrrrrr.

[Fast forward to today]

Little did I know then that there'd be an app called Tiny Planet that would replicate this sort of thing. And that I'd use it almost every day, turning my day's outfit into a #tinyplanet

Chicken Marsala Collection and Marsala Link-up Party.

Hello my pattern friends.
I've been working on a collection "inspired" by the Pantone color of the year: Marsala.

It all coalesced last week driving home from work.
"Chicken Marsala": antique chicken graphics combined with old fashioned plaids, stripes, and ditsies.
I've uploaded a bunch of graphics to my Society6 Pattern account. Still working on the repeats for Spoonflower.
(I really don't want to sit here and vectorize ditsies at home when I do it all day at work).

Here are some screen grabs from Society6:
a chicken marsala tee for that man in your life

Did I mention my Marsala link-up party?
